Acne is surrounded by myths. Let's bust the most common ones. ## Myth 1: Chocolate Causes Acne Not exactly. High-glycemic foods (sugary, refined carbs) can trigger acne in some people, but chocolate itself isn't the culprit. ## Myth 2: Toothpaste Dries Out Pimples Toothpaste contains ingredients that can burn your skin and worsen irritation. Never apply it on pimples. ## Myth 3: Acne is Only a Teen Problem Adult acne is very common — especially in women in their 20s and 30s, often driven by hormones and stress. ## Myth 4: Sun Exposure Clears Acne The sun may temporarily "dry out" pimples, but it worsens pigmentation and causes premature aging. Always use sunscreen. ## Myth 5: Popping Pimples Helps Them Heal Faster Popping causes scars, spreads infection, and makes things worse. Hands off! ## Myth 6: Oily Skin Doesn't Need Moisturizer Wrong. Oily skin needs a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to maintain barrier health. ## Myth 7: Acne Goes Away on Its Own Mild acne may, but moderate to severe acne needs treatment to prevent scarring. The earlier you treat, the better. ## What Actually Works - Gentle cleansing twice a day - Non-comedogenic products - Sunscreen daily - Prescription treatment for moderate/severe acne - Consistency for 8-12 weeks
